Lastly, the trigger guard is very small, or the trigger is positioned a bit too far forward due to the transfer bar. If I was carrying one of these in the Old West, I would definitely be carrying a second or third one because if you cannot clear the fired cases, you won’t be able to load fresh ones. No, it was not me, it was this particular revolver. I had gotten good at doing this years ago and still shoot my single actions on a semi-regular basis (every 5 or 6 weeks instead of twice a week) so it had me questioning my ability. The only modern addition to this iconic design is the addition of a hammer block safety. This 22 revolver provides a sensory pleasure that a modern semi-auto pistol will never be able to replicate. There’s something soothing when cocking back the hammer for each shot and feeling the clicks of the cylinder rotating to a fresh round. Like its Old West counterpart, both are single action only. The Heritage Rough Rider revolver series are available for less than $180!Īlthough the Rough Rider 22 revolver is a scaled-down version of its Old West brethren, it retains that legendary feel, with an all-metal build and wood grips.
